What You’ll Do
- Translate business requirements into robust, scalable database designs through stakeholder collaboration
- Design and implement database solutions optimized for performance, reliability, and security
- Define database standards, best practices, and guidelines, and ensure teams follow them across projects
- Evaluate and recommend database technologies and tools aligned to current needs and future growth
- Lead database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting efforts
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and data dictionaries
- Implement data security controls including access controls, encryption, and data masking
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DB developers and administrators
- Stay current on emerging database technologies and incorporate improvements into architecture when appropriate
What You Need
- Proven experience as a Database Architect, Database Administrator, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of major DBMS platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server
- Strong command of relational database design, normalization, and data modeling techniques
- Proficiency in SQL programming and scripting for automation and administration (e.g., Python, Perl)
- Experience with cloud-based database platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis and their use cases
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- U.S. citizenship required
- Active Public Trust/MBI or ability to obtain one
