Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale Generative AI solutions that power next-gen healthcare experiences. This role blends deep hands-on engineering with platform strategy, architecture standards, and cross-team technical leadership across AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI.
About CVS Health
CVS Health supports millions of people through a large local footprint and growing digital platforms, with a focus on making health care more connected, convenient, and compassionate. Their tech organization builds secure, scalable solutions in a highly regulated environment.
Schedule
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Remote (continental USA)
What You’ll Do
- Lead delivery of scalable, secure AI services using AWS Bedrock (Models, Knowledge Bases, Agents, Guardrails) and Vertex AI (Gemini via API, Agent Builder, Vector Search, Search & Grounding)
- Architect and implement RAG solutions using enterprise data sources (S3, GCS, BigQuery) and retrieval tooling on Bedrock and/or Vertex
- Design multimodal and tool/function-calling solutions and integrate them with enterprise systems through secure service interfaces
- Define reference architectures, “golden paths,” ADRs, and SLOs for latency, resiliency, safety, and cost
- Implement Responsible AI controls: safety filters, guardrails, data minimization, red-teaming playbooks
- Partner with security, privacy, and legal to support HIPAA/PHI compliance, encryption, access control, and auditability
- Build evaluation and observability frameworks (hallucination, relevance, groundedness, toxicity, drift, cost attribution, A/B testing)
- Drive FinOps practices for AI workloads (prompt optimization, caching, batching, model selection)
- Mentor senior engineers and raise design and coding standards across teams
- Track AI platform trends and turn them into actionable platform strategy and roadmaps
What You Need
- 10+ years in systems analysis, application design/development, and engineering leadership
- 7+ years designing modern microservices and enterprise APIs
- 5+ years building mission-critical, secure, resilient applications
- 5+ years delivering enterprise cloud initiatives (AWS and/or Google Cloud)
- 5+ years with DevOps and CI/CD automation (Kubernetes, Docker)
- 3+ years focused on GenAI/LLMs and productionizing AI systems (plus familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch/TensorFlow/Scikit-learn)
- Strong ability to influence architecture decisions and lead cross-functional delivery in regulated environments
- Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering (advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred)
Nice to Have
- Deep Bedrock and/or Vertex AI hands-on experience (Agents, Guardrails, Vector Search, Search & Grounding, Gemini APIs)
- Strong RAG expertise (embeddings, chunking, retrieval/reranking, vector DBs, caching)
- Responsible AI implementation experience (bias/fairness testing, human-in-the-loop, policy controls)
- Strong AI observability/eval experience (tracing, token cost attribution, drift monitoring, offline/online evals)
- FinOps for AI workloads (caching/batching, model selection, quantization/distillation, streaming)
- IaC/platform engineering (Terraform, CDK, GitOps), event-driven architecture
- Regulated industry experience (HIPAA/PHI, data governance, encryption, access control)
- Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS ML Specialty, Google Cloud Architect/ML Engineer, etc.)
Benefits
- Pay range: $144,200 – $288,400 (plus bonus/short-term incentive and equity award target)
- Medical plan options, wellness programs, 401(k) with matching, employee stock purchase plan
