What You’ll Do
- Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team focused on modeling, transformation, and data product ownership
- Define team vision, hire, mentor, and create career paths for data and analytics engineers
- Architect a domain-driven semantic layer that turns business concepts into trusted, centralized data models
- Own the health and performance of the data warehouse by optimizing SQL, table design, and cost-effective pipelines
- Partner upstream with software engineering teams to implement data contracts before code ships
- Create reusable, modular data components that accelerate data access for analysts and data scientists
- Treat data as a product by implementing SLAs for data availability and quality
- Ensure data products are monitored, tested, and reliable so bad data never reaches critical dashboards
- Drive technical rigor with software engineering best practices, CI/CD, and strong testing discipline
What You Need
- Deep expertise in dimensional modeling (Kimball), data mart design, and complex SQL logic
- 3+ years managing Data Engineers or Analytics Engineers
- Expert-level skill with SQL and dbt
- Strong experience with the modern data stack, including dbt and Snowflake or BigQuery, plus orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster
- Ability to translate technical constraints to business stakeholders and advocate for data needs with engineering leaders
- Comfort negotiating data contracts and preventing downstream technical debt
- Strong focus on reliability, testing, and CI/CD for data pipelines
- Strategic mindset to build a scalable data foundation for hyper-growth
