If you love the front end of big government work, where the solution gets invented, priced, and sold before it ever gets built, this is that lane. You’ll lead high-priority pursuit architecture, define the technical “win,” and translate messy client needs into scalable, compliant solutions that delivery teams can actually execute.

About Maximus
Maximus supports government and public-sector missions with technology and operations. This role sits in the growth engine, shaping competitive solutions for federal pursuits and helping the business win new work.

Schedule

  • Full-time, remote (United States)
  • Multi-time-zone collaboration expected
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances
  • U.S. Citizenship required (program requirement)

What You’ll Do

  • Lead solution design and strategy for major government pursuits (pre-RFP through proposal)
  • Translate client requirements into solution elements and architecture views
  • Define technical win themes, differentiators, and reusable components
  • Create and deliver presentations and demos for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support RFI/RFP/RFQ responses, including whitepapers, technical volumes, and concept development
  • Collaborate with capture, pricing, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are viable and cost-realistic
  • Build transition plans that cover operational readiness, training, and adoption
  • Drive innovation using emerging tech and industry best practices (cloud, cybersecurity, AI/ML, etc.)
  • Mentor other solution architects and guide technical teams through transitions
  • Partner internally and externally, including contributing to open-source improvements when relevant

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10–12 years of relevant professional experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience)
  • Deep understanding of government IT landscape, compliance requirements, and proposal processes
  • Experience leading solution development for competitive government procurements
  • Expertise in at least one major domain (cloud, cybersecurity, AI/ML, data, etc.)
  • Knowledge of security standards, compliance frameworks, and risk management
  • Estimation and pricing strategy experience (solution cost realism matters here)
  • Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments across multiple time zones

Benefits

  • Health insurance coverage
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Retirement savings plan
  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • Additional incentives may apply depending on program and performance

This role is big-league capture architecture. If someone’s background is mostly delivery-side architecture (building after the contract is won) and they’ve never owned a proposal, pricing inputs, or win themes, they’ll feel that gap fast.
