What You’ll Do

  • Maintain existing databases and optimize legacy systems for performance and reliability
  • Design and build SQL Server objects including stored procedures, views, triggers, and database structures
  • Create efficient database designs and support data modeling, including normalized forms
  • Modify databases based on business requests and perform testing/validation
  • Troubleshoot database usage issues, malfunctions, and performance bottlenecks
  • Partner with the Database Administrator to resolve database-related issues
  • Provide database objects and data support to report writers and software developers
  • Create and test SQL statements for data presentation and automation
  • Set up and monitor SQL Server Agent jobs and develop alert strategies for failures/issues
  • Update T-SQL scripts for importing and organizing data
  • Manage automated daily/monthly data and reporting processes
  • Gather user requirements and identify new features
  • Develop technical and training documentation as needed
  • Follow all applicable privacy and security laws (including HIPAA and HITECH)
  • Attend required continuing education, including HIPAA training

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong SQL Server development skills (stored procedures, views, triggers)
  • Ability to debug and improve complex stored procedures
  • Experience collaborating with DBA teams and supporting indexing/re-indexing needs
  • Understanding of data management concepts (permissions, recovery, security, monitoring)
  • Experience using SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, and other performance tools
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Working knowledge of integrating SQL Server solutions in .NET environments (C#, ASP.NET, SOA/web services)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High standards for data quality and integrity
