Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Remote

This is a real senior DevOps / cloud infrastructure seat. Heavy AWS, IaC, CI/CD, observability, security, and you’re expected to lead and mentor, not just “keep the lights on.”

About Cardinal Financial
Nationwide mortgage lender with proprietary LOS tech (Octane). Regulated environment, so security and uptime are not optional.

Schedule

  • Remote
  • CI/CD + production releases, including occasional off-hours deployments
  • Cross-team work with Architecture, Dev, and business stakeholders

What You’ll Do

  • Architect AWS infrastructure that’s scalable, secure, cost-aware
  • Build and maintain CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) across environments
  • Own releases to production and QC, sometimes off-hours
  • Monitoring/logging/alerting with AWS tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray, CloudTrail, Systems Manager)
  • Lead infra projects: capacity planning, DR, security compliance
  • Mentor junior engineers and raise DevOps practice maturity
  • Troubleshoot across the stack (network to app performance)
  • Tighten IAM, security groups, segmentation, compliance for financial services
  • Cost optimization: right-sizing, RIs, architectural improvements
  • Document everything: runbooks, operational procedures

What You Need
Required

  • 8+ years infra/DevOps/cloud, 3+ on AWS
  • Terraform and/or CDK (IaC)
  • CI/CD ownership (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, similar)
  • Containers: Docker + Kubernetes/EKS
  • Scripting (Python/Bash) and they also call out Java
  • Networking + systems + security fundamentals
  • Remote collaboration chops
  • Comfortable using AI tools for productivity

Preferred

  • AWS certs (SA, DevOps)
  • Regulated industry experience
  • Deep AWS-native observability (CloudWatch/X-Ray/SSM/AWS Config)
  • RDS/DynamoDB/Aurora
  • Serverless (Lambda/API Gateway/Step Functions)
  • Security tooling (GuardDuty/Security Hub/Inspector)
  • Cost tools (Cost Explorer/Trusted Advisor/Compute Optimizer)

Pay range

  • $140,000–$170,000 base

My straight take

  • If your background is true infra/DevOps/SRE with AWS + Terraform + pipelines + incident response, this is a solid fit and the pay band is legit.
  • If your experience is more “app developer who has deployed some stuff,” you’ll get exposed fast. This role assumes you can design the platform, not just operate it.
  • The “off-hours deployments” line means they’re still doing some controlled releases that may not be fully hands-off yet. Not a red flag, but it’s a signal.

Action move
If you’re applying, I’ll tailor a tight resume summary + bullet rewrites to match their keywords (AWS, Terraform/CDK, GitHub Actions/Jenkins, EKS, IAM, DR, cost optimization, runbooks). Paste your current resume bullets for your last 2 roles and I’ll refactor them into “Cardinal language” without fluff.
