Vanta is hiring a Backend Senior Software Engineer for our Identity team to design and evolve the authentication and authorization infrastructure that powers our platform for enterprise customers.

Compensation & Location
- Salary range: $179,000 – $211,000 annually

What You’ll Do
- Design scalable authentication systems (OIDC, SAML, SSO) and authorization frameworks (RBAC, policy-based access control) for enterprise readiness
- Build composable, extensible identity services with clean interface contracts
- Lead complex, cross-team technical projects that balance user experience, business needs, and scalability
- Collaborate with Security to ensure best practices for data protection
- Mentor engineers, set cultural and technical standards, and drive high-quality execution
- Influence how multiple engineering teams integrate with Vanta’s identity platform
- Tackle distributed systems challenges around security, performance, and reliability
What You Need
- 8+ years of industry experience in backend development
- Expertise in authentication protocols (OIDC, SAML), SSO, and advanced authorization models
- Strong data modeling skills for complex systems
- Proven success with platform services that scale across teams
- Experience with distributed systems, migrations, and enterprise security practices
- History of leading multi-month technical projects
- Ability to mentor, collaborate, and influence engineering culture
