What You’ll Do
- Own and administer the Looker platform, including:
- Permissions
- Performance considerations
- Content lifecycle
- Development standards
- Lead the direction and quality of Kin’s semantic layer and BI practices
- Align cross-functional teams on shared metrics and definitions, guiding tradeoffs when definitions differ
- Oversee the reliability and ongoing development of core enterprise dashboards and reports
- Partner with data engineering on dimensional model design and evolution, advocating for analytics-friendly best practices
- Hire, mentor, and lead analytics engineers, strengthening modeling, semantic design, and stakeholder partnership skills
- Build and implement new analytics and reporting solutions that improve trust and usability across the business
What You Need
- 6–8+ years in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or data modeling roles
- Expert-level SQL and dimensional modeling experience
- Proven ability to design simple, durable semantic layers over complex data
- Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical partners
- Demonstrated leadership through mentoring, direction-setting, or team leadership
- Hands-on experience with modern lakehouse/warehouse platforms (e.g., Databricks) and/or BI tools (e.g., Looker)
- High emotional intelligence and empathy when navigating differing perspectives and definitions
