They’re hiring a Senior Principal Engineer, Data Infra (also called Principal Engineer, Databricks Platform) to build and scale the backbone that powers analytics across the organization. 🔎 What You’ll Own:
• Architecture & Governance: Audit current infra and define roadmap improvements—data access, reliability, cost, and compliance
• Platform Buildout: Lead setup and optimization of Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, SQL) and/or Vertica/SQL systems for high performance at scale
• Self-Service Enablement: Collaborate with data science, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver self-service tooling and automated pipelines
• Proofs of Concept: Design, implement, and evaluate PoCs to address workflow inefficiencies
• MLOps & Automation: Own MLOps practices and data operations automation for reliable model deployment
• Leadership & Mentorship: Define best practices, document processes, and mentor other engineers—raising the bar across teams
🧠Must-Have Traits & Qualifications:
- 10+ years in data infrastructure, building scalable data/ML platforms
- Deep expertise in Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark, Databricks SQL) and/or data warehousing (Vertica, SQL Server)
- Proven experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, data governance, and security
- MLOps experience: automating model lifecycle and ensuring infrastructure support
- Collaborative mindset with stellar communication—able to partner with data teams and leadership across domains
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related STEM field (preferred)
