Sawhorse Productions—a leading creative studio behind viral interactive experiences for Roblox, Fortnite, ZEPETO, and more—is looking for a Roblox Environmental Artist to help shape vibrant, immersive game worlds for UGC-driven platforms.
This freelance position is ideal for an experienced 3D artist with strong worldbuilding instincts and a passion for gameplay-driven storytelling. You’ll design environments that don’t just look stunning—they feel alive and tell a story.
✨ What You’ll Do
- Conceptualize and build immersive 3D environments that support narrative and gameplay
- Craft optimized landscapes, props, and structures that work seamlessly in Roblox
- Collaborate with designers, technical artists, and directors to maintain consistent visual tone
- Translate creative briefs into fully realized interactive worlds
- Troubleshoot lighting, layout, and performance issues across devices
- Participate in reviews, respond to feedback, and iterate quickly
- Present your work to internal teams and external clients
✅ What You’ll Bring
- 🧱 2–4+ years experience designing 3D environments, preferably in gaming
- 🎮 Proficiency in Roblox Studio, with at least one shipped Roblox title or portfolio piece
- đź› Comfort with 3D tools like Blender, Maya, or similar
- ⚡ Strong optimization instincts (StreamingEnabled, low-poly workflows, etc.)
- 🎯 Deep understanding of lighting, layout, and gameplay flow
- 🤝 Excellent communicator, collaborative and comfortable in client-facing reviews

- Texture work with Substance Painter/Designer
- Lighting setups for cinematic-style environments
- Custom tool or plugin development in Roblox
- Avatar rigging and controller experience
- Familiarity with Unity or Unreal Engine

- Location: Remote (US only) or hybrid in Los Angeles
- Schedule: PST core hours, M–F, 9AM–6PM
