Side, a global leader in co-development for the video game industry, is building its Character Concept Artist Talent Pool to support future AAA, mobile, and cross-platform projects. This isn’t an open role (yet), but submitting your portfolio ensures you’re top of mind for upcoming opportunities across our worldwide studio network.

📋 What You’ll Own

• Design visually compelling character concepts with personality, function, and flair
• Create costume, accessory, and character detail iterations with attention to style and gameplay mechanics
• Develop visuals that fit a project’s tone—from stylized to hyperreal
• Collaborate with 3D artists, art leads, and designers to guide asset creation
• Deliver polished, production-ready concept sheets with callouts and breakdowns
• Iterate based on team and client feedback to ensure cohesion and excellence


🎯 Requirements

Experience
• 3+ years in the game industry as a Character Concept Artist
• At least one shipped title (PC, console, mobile, or VR/AR)

Technical & Artistic Skills
• Proficient in Photoshop, Procreate, or equivalent tools
• Solid grasp of anatomy, shape language, proportion, and personality-driven design
• Ability to design for gameplay function, animation, and visual storytelling
• Skilled in rendering and presentation of character concepts

Creative Strengths
• Imaginative, flexible, and versatile across styles (fantasy, sci-fi, realism, etc.)
• Collaborative team player who thrives on feedback
• Detail-oriented, narrative-focused mindset


⭐ Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with 3D tools for block-outs or rough sculpts
• Experience illustrating characters for varied genres and tones
• Visual storytelling background (e.g., comics, cinematics, storyboard art)
• Awareness of evolving trends in character design and art direction
