🧾 About the Role
FWI is seeking a skilled Web Designer / Developer to support the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) at the National Science Foundation. You’ll lead both the front-end and back-end development of web applications, ensure Section 508 compliance, and implement cloud-based solutions using Drupal CMS and AWS technologies. This position is contingent upon contract award.

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM EST

📋 What You’ll Own
• Design and maintain responsive, accessible web applications
• Build seamless user experiences using front-end and back-end tools
• Manage Drupal CMS customization and AWS-based deployments
• Ensure all web assets meet federal Section 508 accessibility standards
• Communicate directly with public users, academic stakeholders, and NSF staff
• Support DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment
• Optimize performance, security, and accessibility of all web applications
• Respond to NSF requests and inquiries within the same business day
• Maintain clear documentation of code, systems, and processes
🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 5+ years of full-stack web development experience
• Proven expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side languages
• Strong knowledge of Section 508 accessibility compliance
• Experience with Drupal CMS and DevOps deployment workflows
• Cloud platform proficiency, especially AWS
• Clear communicator comfortable engaging with faculty, students, and agency staff
• Ability to support large-scale user bases, such as grant recipients or association members

• Drupal certification or advanced experience with Drupal architecture
• Direct experience deploying government or educational web applications
• Background in UI/UX design and user research
• Familiarity with automated testing, QA, and federal web compliance standards
• Knowledge of government-level web security best practices
