FWI is hiring a Web Designer / Developer to support operations for the prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). You’ll be responsible for maintaining the program’s full-stack digital presence—from UX to backend systems—ensuring performance, security, and accessibility across the board. 📋 What You’ll Own
• Develop and maintain Drupal CMS-based applications hosted in AWS
• Create responsive front-end interfaces that meet Section 508 accessibility standards
• Build and manage backend infrastructure for dynamic, user-focused web experiences
• Serve as point of contact for NSF inquiries, responding within same-day turnaround
• Optimize performance, security, and cloud deployment
• Support DevOps pipeline for continuous integration and delivery
• Collaborate with scientists, academic users, and NSF program staff to tailor digital solutions
• Document code, systems, and processes clearly and thoroughly


🎯 Must-Have Traits
• 5+ years in full-stack development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript + backend frameworks)
• Deep knowledge of Section 508 compliance and federal accessibility guidelines
• Proven DevOps experience managing and deploying Drupal in AWS
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience handling high-volume public engagement (grant recipients, academia, etc.)

• AWS deployment experience
• Advanced Drupal certification or deep custom module development
• Experience building for government, academic, or STEM-based programs
• Strong grasp of UI/UX design principles
• Experience with automated testing, QA practices, and web security in federal systems


💻 Remote Requirements
• Must reside in the U.S. and be available for in-person meetings in Alexandria, VA as needed
• Monday–Friday schedule (8am–5pm ET)
• Reliable internet connection, familiarity with remote tools, and ability to work autonomously
