đ§ž About the Role
Gearbox Entertainment, the studio behind Borderlands, Tiny Tinaâs Wonderlands, and Brothers in Arms, is looking for a Senior Animation Programmer to join their game development team. Youâll work closely with animators, riggers, and designers to build and refine the animation systems that bring rich, genre-defining worlds to life.

đ What Youâll Own
⢠Collaborate with animation and design teams to prototype, implement, and refine animation tools and pipelines
⢠Build robust runtime systems for procedural animation, IK, compression, and more
⢠Optimize and debug code to improve performance and functionality
⢠Write clear documentation for both technical and non-technical users
⢠Lead architectural design sessions and code reviews
⢠Mentor junior programmers and contribute to overall tech direction
⢠Support cross-functional strike teams with well-integrated animation systems
đŻ Must-Have Traits
⢠5+ years of experience in animation engineering in the games industry
⢠Deep knowledge of C++ and animation systems (IK, physics-based movement, etc.)
⢠Familiar with animation authoring tools (Maya, Max, MotionBuilder)
⢠Strong problem-solving and communication skills
⢠Experience with shipped console titles
⢠Able to work across disciplines and collaborate in agile dev teams
⢠Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Game Design, or equivalent experience
Bonus Points For
⢠Experience with Unreal Engine
⢠Background in first-person shooter animation systems
